Mike and I have returned from our sojourn in Japan and are back in the warm and sunny climate of San Diego, CA. It was an adventure to be sure and while we will commute between here and Japan on occasion our permanent base for some time to come will be our home in San Diego. For the last several months, while in Japan, I have been monitoring the Dr. Quinn mailing list learning about events for Jane's Star Week Ceremonies and hearing the rumors of a Dr. Quinn Movie. Well, the fans won a partial victory with a 2 hour movie to be aired on May 22, 1999 at 9pm. I say a partial victory because we don't get our series back but we do get our movie ... and while we get Jane and Joe and most of the cast, we will be missing some key players: William Shockley (there are a lot of broken hearted Hussies out there), Chad Allen, Jessica Bowman, Jason Leland Adams and Brandon Douglas. Also there is a new Katie ...

The best of all was arriving back in San Diego in time to visit Paramount Ranch to watch the filming of the movie due to air on May 22nd. On Monday, March 15th, Trudy and I ventured out before daylight to head north up the 5, 405 and 101 to watch the filming. The threat of torrential rain didn't stop us at all ... We arrived at Paramount Ranch to find lots of friends and heavy rain. Fortunately or unfortunately they were filming indoors at the clinic but we were allowed to stand on the porch of the saloon and watch the cast and crew come and go .. and they were using the saloon to rest and relax in... It was definitely like old home week ... both for us as fans meeting old friends and making new ones and for the cast and crew as they gathered together for the first time since the series was taken off the air.

The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed and EVERYONE enjoyed being back together for the filming of the DQ Movie. What follows are pictures I was able to capture both on Monday and also on our second trip up on Thursday (Mike even came along on this trip for the day with Trudy and I).
